Krakowski's proposal connects the history of telecommunications with the memory of trades, technological transformation, and the material and ecological consequences of progress. The artist uses Morse code as a primary formal resource, translating the names of professions, materials, tools, and knowledge that have disappeared or are disappearing into a visual and sculptural language.
Krakowski's project is part of a line of research on manual processes and craftsinviting critical reflection on technological transformations. A prime example is gutta-percha, a natural rubber used as insulation in early submarine telegraph cables, whose exploitation in the nineteenth century This generated intense pressure on Southeast Asian forests. The exhibition poses the central question: "When a technology solves one problem, where does the next one appear?"
The submarine cable serves as a unifying thread and metaphor throughout the exhibition, directing the viewer's gaze toward the hidden ecosystems and resources that sustain communication networks. References to extractivism and ecosystems under pressure, such as the salsola soda and posidonia seagrass, are incorporated. The exhibition includes a video provided by the OBESMAR Foundation and features the work of artisans like Alberto Cardona and glass artist Sara Sorribes. The molds and tools were loaned by the former March workshop.
