El Javea Town Hall unanimously approved, in the ordinary plenary session held this Thursday, a motion presented by Commitment to demand a greater effort in the prevention and fighting of forest fires. The agreement incorporates an amendment from the governing team proposing to the Generalitat the installation of a self-protection water cannon system in the area surrounding the Natural Park Montgówith special attention to the area of The flat.
The initiative was defended by the spokesperson for Commitment, Carme Català, who raised the need to strengthen prevention policies in the face of the increased risk of forest fires, a scenario that this summer is affecting different parts of Spain and that once again highlights the importance of forest management and the protection of the territory.
A self-protection system for the Montgó
During the debate on the motion, the mayor of Xàbia, Rosa Cardona[Name of person/organization] presented an amendment that was accepted by all municipal groups and incorporated into the final text. The proposal requests that... Valencian generalitat the installation of a self-protection water cannon system in areas of the Montgó Natural Park where there is a higher concentration of housing and a greater risk derived from the urban-forest interface, especially in the vicinity of The flat.

A permanent forestry brigade
Among the agreements supported by the municipal corporation is also the promotion of the creation of a specific forestry brigade that allows for year-round preventive work such as forest clearing, maintenance of forest areas, opening of safety areas and other actions aimed at reducing fuel load and improving the protection of the natural environment.

I own a plot of land on the plain, overgrown with pine trees that have grown since the last fire. I don't dare touch any of them because of the fine I'd get if I did. I would build a reservoir myself, filled with plenty of water, which I would make available to the Generalitat (Valencian regional government) and the Jávea town council if they granted me the necessary building permit.
