Xàbia promotes a hospitality training course for young people aged 16 to 30.

22 October 2025 - 16: 46

The Youth Area of the Javea Town Hall has launched a new training course in hospitality aimed at young people between 16 and 30 years old. The Councilor for Youth, Raquel Violero, together with Paco Alfaro, manager of Play Jove, and Luisa Fernanda Murillo, tutor of the course, have presented this initiative, which has the collaboration of CREAMA (Center for Business Resources of the Marina Alta) and the Association of Restaurateurs of Xàbia.

Raquel Violero emphasized that "this course responds to the need for qualified personnel in the hospitality sector, given the existing training gap in the area." The program is basic and has a practical focus, with a greater emphasis on practical activities than theoretical ones.

Paco Alfaro, for his part, noted that "the initiative seeks to create quality jobs and ensure that young people have good working conditions." He recalled that the 2022 edition "was a resounding success, as all participants found employment in the sector with favorable working conditions."

Regarding the organization, and given the high demand in this sector, Violero emphasized the council's intention to continue the project in future editions, with the goal of consolidating it as a stable training program within the municipal youth calendar. "It is proposed to run this course on a six-monthly basis, with the aim of offering new training opportunities to the local youth."

The course will take place from November 10th to December 5th, from 19:00 PM to 22:00 PM. The course consists of a total of 60 hours and is limited to 15 places. Participants will learn about front-of-house service, customer service, drink preparation, table setting and cleaning, and basic barista and cocktail making skills, in addition to visiting establishments and meeting with industry professionals.

Registration, which is done online and can be accessed through the QR code that appears on the poster, is open to all young people from the Marina Alta, "although those registered in Xàbia will have preference," the councilor clarified.

For her part, Luisa Fernanda Murillo, the course tutor, emphasized that this program provides the basic experience that many workers in the sector don't acquire when starting out due to a lack of time in restaurants. "It's essential for young people to have a clear idea before starting work, since starting without training is not the same as starting with the appropriate knowledge," Luisa commented.

Aside from the Councilor for Health, Youth, and Social Services, are there other councilors in the local government? Because lately, it seems that only she works... or we're only told that she works.
