El Javea Town Hall has approved a credit amendment of 2,4 million euros charged to the treasury surplus, the municipal economic reserve intended to finance investments and extraordinary actions.
Within this operation, one of the most noteworthy points, and one that has generated debate, has been the inclusion of 200.000 Euros to launch the Consumer Voucher campaign Christmas, an initiative that this year will be financed entirely with municipal funds, since the Provincial Council has not launched its own call for proposals.
Criticism of the PSOE
The incorporation of this item, as indicated by Socialist PartyThis comes after they publicly criticized the fact that the campaign was not carried out, following comments made by the Councilor for Economic Promotion, Juan Luis Cardona, in an interview.
However, the three-party coalition indicated today, during the extraordinary plenary session and in response to the presentation of the budget amendment, that the items will be included. The allocated amount will be €200.000, a figure the opposition considers insufficient and has requested €400.000.
In response to this request PSOE y Compromís, the finance councillor, Teresa Legay He noted that "the figure of 200.000 euros is appropriate" for this type of campaign and recalled that "this amount has never been exceeded in previous years." Furthermore, he warned that increasing the budget would create "an excessive administrative burden" for civil servants, which would delay the campaign's launch.
For his part, the Councillor for Commerce, juanlu cardonaHe explained that the Town Hall It plans to launch another campaign later, although the current one had to be approved immediately to be ready for the holiday season.
Finally, the governing team —made up of PP, VOX y Ciudadanos by Jávea— rejected the opposition's amendment and maintained the initial proposal of 200.000 Euros to move forward with the launch of the Christmas Consumer Bonus campaign.

Politicians don't admit when they change their minds, but that's exactly what happened here. The PSOE was right to point out that this campaign wasn't going to happen, and the government mobilized immediately to get it done in just a few days—a very unusual occurrence in this city council. Congratulations, Ximo, on this coup that benefits everyone.
