La Arenal Beach Xàbia will become the next And May 16 17 at the epicenter of handball regional beach with the celebration of Iván Almazán Tournament, first test of the Valencian Community League.
The tournament will mark the official start of the season of beach handball and will bring together different teams in one of the most anticipated sporting events on the regional calendar. The councilor of Sports, Tony Molinatogether with representatives of the Club Handbol Xàbia and from the Valencian Federation of HandballThis morning, the tournament was presented, which is once again consolidating its position as a benchmark for beach handball in the Valencian Community and which this year reaches a historic record of participation with 65 teams and nearly 700 players.
For two days, players and fans will enjoy matches on the sand in a sporting and festive atmosphere by the sea, consolidating Xàbia as one of the benchmarks of this modality in the Valencian Community.
During the presentation, Molina highlighted "the enormous work carried out by Club Handbol Xàbia, as well as the involvement of members, volunteers and collaborators, without whom it would be impossible to organize an event of this size."
For its part, Pep Hierro, a member of the Xàbia Handball Club, explained that the tournament also serves as a tribute to the former president and coach of the club, Ivan Almazán, a figure closely linked to the growth of local handball.
Match schedule
The competition will start on Saturday morning with the children's categories, continue in the afternoon with the cadet teams and continue on Sunday with the youth and senior categories, both male and female.
In addition to the official competition, the tournament will host the first training sessions for the regional youth, cadet and junior teams, both male and female, who will thus begin their preparation for the Spanish Championship of Regional Teams, scheduled for this year in Calella.
The organizers encourage residents and visitors to attend the Arenal Beach to support the local teams and enjoy a weekend of sport and entertainment.
