The floods, triggered by the collapse of part of a glacier and a mountainside in the Himalayas, have swept vast quantities of water, mud, and rocks into downstream communities. The disaster has caused significant damage to villages, homes, roads, and bridges, leaving many families homeless and in need of shelter and support for rebuilding.
These events have mobilized the Marina Alta region. Under the #YogaForNepal initiative, several teachers from yoga Tai chi classes from Xàbia, Gata de Gorgos and Jesús Pobre will offer charity classes this weekend to raise funds for Build Up Nepal, an organization that works with vulnerable and disaster-affected communities in the country.
In response to this new emergency, the organization is mobilizing resources to provide temporary accommodation to the affected families and, subsequently, to collaborate in the recovery and reconstruction of their homes.
Therefore, all the funds raised during the event will be allocated to Build Up Nepal, an organization that has been working with local communities for more than ten years to facilitate the construction of safe, affordable and disaster-resistant housing.
