Xàbia showed its support for Ceuta this Wednesday in a gathering that has brought together nearly a thousand people in front of the Town Hallin the church square. The event, scheduled for 20:00h, responded to the call made by the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP) to the town councils throughout Spain on the occasion of Ceuta Day.

The purpose of the demonstration was to convey the support of Spanish municipalities to the autonomous city and its population following the events that took place on the days 30 & 31 of July, when Ceuta experienced a massive influx of migrants from Morocco.

The crisis has reached an exceptional scale. The figures released in recent weeks show Between 70.000 and 80.000 people entered Ceuta During those episodes, a situation that has forced the deployment of significant resources to manage humanitarian aid, the identification of those arriving, protection requests and possible returns.

Rosa Cardona asks the Spanish Government for a solution

During the rally, the mayor of Xàbia, Rosa CardonaShe was responsible for delivering the official message to the numerous residents gathered in the square. In her speech, Cardona referred to the arrival of approximately 80.000 migrants to the autonomous city and has demanded that the Spanish Government find a solution to a situation that continues to generate significant difficulties in Ceuta.

The mayor has also emphasized concepts such as solidarity, coexistence and social integration, focusing on the need to support the people of Ceuta in the face of the consequences of this crisis.

Likewise, before the start of the reading of the manifesto, some attendees raised their voices with criticism and insults, which the mayor stopped by asking for peace: "we are people of peace".

The City Council's own announcement stated that the objective of the meeting was "to convey to Ceuta the support and solidarity of Xàbia in the face of the situation that the autonomous city and its residents are experiencing."

García-Margallo, among the attendees

Among those who participated in the rally in Xàbia was also José Manuel García-Margallo, former Minister of Foreign Affairs and CooperationGarcía-Margallo has spoken publicly in recent weeks about the situation in Ceuta and has called for greater coordination between administrations and a national response to the crisis.

The former minister defended, among other measures, the need to strengthen European participation and Frontex's intervention to address the consequences of the massive influx of migrants. Also present were members of VOX, Ciudadanos through Jávea and from Party.

Rallies in numerous Spanish municipalities

The demonstration in Xàbia took place within a day of rallies called by the FEMP in numerous Spanish municipalities coinciding with the Ceuta Day, celebrated every September 2nd.

In the Marina Alta region, in addition to Xàbia, municipalities such as [insert names of municipalities] have also officially joined. Dénia, Calp and Teulada Moraira.

The mayor's speech, if it can even be called that, was deplorable. Since she so effortlessly adopted progressive language, calling the invaders migrants and showing great concern for their well-being, I suppose she'll offer her house to accommodate a few of them.
Doña Rosa, Jávea already has enough problems with Calvario Street. Please, if you're going to bring or encourage more trouble, take it home with you. The residents of Jávea are fed up with these messes and these second-rate, progressive politicians from the PP and PSOE parties who we don't know what they're doing with the money they've plundered from us. Join forces with Chulvi and form a coalition; neither your rhetoric nor your actions have changed anything under your leadership. Wait for me in the next election, but sit down, because you've already lost my vote.

You're right. As I suspected, I went to the Valencia rally because it was obvious the PP would go down that road (although they did make a few comments there too, and we booed them). It's clear they're the same as the PSOE, but also cowardly and copycats. The PP members are the real culprits for what's happening to us, because they're chickens.

Unfortunately, that's your comment. Referring to people as "brown-skinned," you should be ashamed of publicly using such derogatory terms. As if there weren't any dark-skinned Spaniards! Spaniards aren't a race; we are the result of the mixing of many ethnicities due to the numerous civilizations that have passed through this territory. And if you and everyone else were as clever as you think you are, you would go after the real culprits: the King of Morocco, along with the US and Israeli governments, and all the governments of the European Union who don't have the guts to speak out because nobody has the guts to go against the US. All the people who have crossed have been deceived; they were told there was guaranteed work, among other things, and it was a lie. You have turned some of the victims into the guilty parties, while the real culprits laugh at everyone as they see everything turning out as they wanted. And before I say that I should take them into my home, I never once mentioned taking them in; I'm only saying that you are attacking some of the victims instead of attacking the culprit.

Stop watching TV. But it's true, they're not just brown, they're MOORS AND BLACKS, and if the enemy tries to enter your house and you let them in, YOU are to blame.

  2. Bogamari says:

Many agree with the anonymous commentators. Those who comment briefly and retrogradely, do not see the reality of the issue. That is where the problem lies and none of the collons to address the truth. Morocco is in a World Cup and you do not have money for the people, they are on a road with the name of Trump's carcamal, and Israel with the batuta.Açi PP,VOX,Tirant month fills the focus to lie to everyone, and the only thing is that they are believed. So much so that they call, times by times, the vorem d'genolls amb marroc.Ahhhh….Ceuta has been Spanish since 1670 approxm.

  3. Josep says:

Cal stop all these racist comments. How many Moors, as some call them, have lived in Xàbia since last year, work and perfectly respect local life?

Yes, there is a minority that causes problems, and those who do not respect the law or coexistence have no problem here. But the vast majority simply live calmly, work and respect their lives.

For me, the problem in Ceuta is also a consequence of the lies and false promises of a better life offered to people who live in very difficult situations. I consider that the governments of Morocco, the State Units and Israel have a share of responsibility in this situation. We also have to point out that many African countries, even being rich in resources, have been poorly governed and have also suffered for decades from the exploitation of European powers.

Therefore, yes, everyone supports Ceuta and its inhabitants, hoping that they can recover a quiet and safe life, with the solidarity of all citizens. But we also have a thought for all 82 children and adults who have lost their lives trying to make the journey.

All of us are humans. Al cap ia la fi, tots caguem al mateix àter. A little bit of humanity doesn't mean faria cap mal.

Those who come to live in Spain must respect the laws, the inhabitants and the Spanish way of life. Those who refuse to integrate and do not respect the rules must assume the consequences and, as the law establishes, be expelled to their country. If the current laws do not allow us to act adequately in these situations, it will be necessary to change them to be able to legally expel those who do not comply with the rules and refuse to respect coexistence.
