The defenders of the animals have marched with banners and the cry of 'Bous a la Mar, mistreat animal', 'Torture is not culture' or 'How can it amuse you to see an animal suffer?', the Paseo Marina Española and the Paseo del Pintor Joaquín Sorolla.
During the demonstration, the animal groups collected signatures to abolish this type of festive act. Alana V. Serrano, as a member and spokesperson for one of the groups, has indicated that, since the Charge.org campaign began, close to 67.000 signatures have already been collected in support of finding another party alternative. Some signatures that will continue to be presented to Les Corts so that the administration does not continue supporting animal abuse.
Alana has also indicated that it is planned to meet, in the short term, with the new mayoress of Xàbia, Rosa Cardona, to present their objective and, as has happened in the Valencian municipality of Tavernes de la Valldigna, to abolish all bullfighting events, whether bous al carrer or bous a la mar, or any that use animals for entertainment.
On the other hand, the demonstration has also had the participation and support of PACMA (Partido Animalista con el Medio Ambiente). Irene Mora, PACMA spokeswoman, has outlined the importance of not torturing animals for fun. Mora has stressed that to put an end to this type of actions or festive events, it must be the administration that puts an end to it, "that they do not contribute money or budget for this type of activity."
This protest has been carried out days before the start of the bullfighting days of Bous a la Mar included within the programming of the festivities in honor of the Mare de Déu de Loreto de Xàbia.
