The arrest of one of those involved in the foiled robbery attempt in the center of Xàbia occurred thanks to the direct intervention of a worker who was in the vicinity of the Municipal Market.

The incident occurred shortly after 10:00 a.m., when shouts of "Police! Police!" were heard in the area. At that time, the man—ICT, a former soldier with seven years of service in the Lusitania 8 Light Armored Cavalry Regiment and a resident of Oliva—was outside the market where he was working.

Upon hearing the shouts, he saw two men running through the nearby streets. According to what this citizen told this news outlet, one of them changed direction and approached him, saying, "They're robbing us." The worker, noticing that the man was also fleeing, became suspicious and decided to follow him through the streets of the historic center.

A few minutes later, the thief, finding himself in the same spot, tried to flee by making a U-turn, at which point the citizen acted to prevent his escape. He tripped him, managed to knock him to the ground, and subdued him, holding him immobilized until the arrival of officers from the Local Police of Xàbia, who proceeded to arrest him.

The action was crucial in preventing one of the suspects from escaping after the attempted robbery at the jewelry store in the historic center.
