Xàbia will once again become the epicenter of crime, intrigue, and literature with the eighth edition of the Xàbia Negra festival, which will be held from November 7 to 9, 2025. This event, already established within the national circuit of festivals dedicated to the crime genre, brings together authors, readers, and suspense lovers every year, who find in Xàbia a perfect setting where Mediterranean beauty blends with the darkest side of fiction.
Xàbia Negra offers a weekend full of literary activities, screenings, theater and debates that explore the limits of crime, justice and the human condition.
Programme
Friday November 7
- 10:30 a.m. – Xàbia Negra Express Short Film Competition: Distribution of envelopes to participants. Church Square. Start of the audiovisual competition where participants receive the rules and prepare their pieces that they must film during the weekend.
- 12:00 PM – True Crime Live Podcast: 'Chronicles of the Rue Morgue'With Ana Mendoza and Carmen Corazzini in the Municipal Mercat de XàbiaA live recording that explores the boundaries between journalism and crime fiction.
- 17:30 p.m. – Book Club: 'The darkness that dwells within me' With Joaquín Camps at the Centre Històric Public Library. A literary meeting to discuss the mechanisms of the criminal mind in literature.
- 19:00 PM – Psychopaths of reality and fiction With Carmen Corazzini and Joaquín Camps at the House of Culture. A talk on how literature and psychology address the most disturbing aspects of crime.
- 20:00 PM – Presentation of the LA CRIMINALA Award with Rosa Montero. House of Culture. Recognition of career or outstanding contribution to the noir genre.
- 20:10 p.m. – Dystopias to understand the world With Rosa Montero. Xàbia Cultural Center. Reflection on futuristic narratives and their relationship with the shadows of the present.
- 21:00 PM – Characters outside the pages with Laia Serna at the House of Culture. A stage production that brings to life the protagonists of the literary crime.
Saturday November 8
- 11:00 am – Literary Trobada (in Valencia): 'Després del salt' with Natalia Gisbert in the Casa del Cable Espai d'Art. A meeting that celebrates noir literature written in Valencian.
- 12:00 pm – Literary Vermouth'A conversation like never before' with Rosa Montero, Marta Robles, Carmen Corazzini, Vicente Garrido, Sonia Valiente, Javier Alandes, Natalia Gisbert, and Santiago Álvarez. Sotavent Restaurant. A relaxed chat over drinks and confidences about the craft of writing crime fiction.
- 13:00 hours – Talk-presentation'Passion for Killing' with Vicente Garrido. Sotavent Restaurant. The criminologist explores the human fascination with murder and the mind of the killer.
- 19:00 PM – Mystery Addicts With Javier Alandes and Sonia Valiente. House of Culture. Conversation about narrative hooks and suspense addiction.
- 20:00 PM – Thriller with values With Marta Robles. House of Culture. Reflection on ethical commitment in contemporary suspense and crime plots.
Sunday November 9
- 10:00 am – Theatrical tour: 'La Criminala: a Mediterranean tragedy' (Free activity). Departure from Plaza de la Iglesia. A scenic tour that brings to life a story of crime and tragedy in the heart of the old town.
- 12:00 PM – Battle of Writers: 'Narrative performance' With Marta Robles, Carmen Corazzini, Javier Alandes, Sonia Valiente, and Santiago Álvarez. House of Culture. Literary competition where authors improvise stories in front of an audience.
- 13:00 hours – Short story contest in secondary schools: awards ceremony. With IES Antoni Llidó and IES La MarHouse of Culture. Local young talents receive recognition for their noir stories.
- 13:15 – Xàbia Negra Express Short Film CompetitionScreening of finalists and awards ceremony. House of Culture. Closing of the festival with the screening of the winning short films from the express competition.
