Feijóo: “If I sign an agreement, it’s to be fulfilled.” And you, Madam Mayor?

“If I sign an agreement, it’s to honor it.” This is what the president of PP referring to the agreement signed by Sánchez in the top NATO. Is this out of political opportunism, or is it a conviction and a value of that organization? It would be great if your party colleague Rosa Cardona, our mayor, followed this maxim.

In the debate prior to the municipal elections, a PACT was presented for all political forces in our municipality to sign. The pact is very clear and concise, designed to restore public trust in the politicalCountering the idea that "During the campaign they promise what they want and then they do what they want, not what they have promised"; it basically demands that the party in government publish its program and periodically evaluate and publish its compliance, setting deadlines: the first publication before the end of 2023 and annually a balance of what has been executed.

Only PP and Podemos signed it.

Two years have passed since that signing (halfway through the legislative period) and nothing is known about the government's program, nor its degree of compliance (or, if applicable, the reasons for non-compliance). What's more, when you visit the government's website, Town Hall And if you're looking for strategic information on the municipality's progress, you get NO information; on the transparency portal, you only find an explanation on how to request data.

We don't know the reason for this noncompliance, but it would be highly desirable for the local government to abide by what was signed (as its leader says he would) and begin to restore confidence in our leaders.

The pact signed by the now mayor reads as follows:

In order to bring citizens closer to political decisions and to improve the democratic quality of Xábia, I sign this document, in which I promise, as head of the list of my formation, that when I enter the government of Xàbia:

  • I will publish the program of my government during the second semester of 2023.
    • Establishing execution indicators and measurable results for each of the initiatives, actions or proposals of the program.
    • External contracts will be aimed at fulfilling some part of this program and this will be stated in the corresponding contracts.
    • Each annual budget will have a document that will relate it to the government program.
    • I will give regular information on the evolution of the government program, at least once a year; assessing the established indicators and even adding some or modifying them if deemed appropriate, explaining the reasons for the change.

The fulfillment of this pact is an opportunity for Xàbia that Podemos will implement as soon as it enters the government of our population, seeking:

  • Regain the trust of citizens in electoral promises and party programs.
  • Orientation to member and local organizations to plan their development and investment strategies.
  • Position Xàbia as the first municipality (at the state level) to commit to reporting on the fulfillment of its program, publishing it and evaluating its implementation.
  • Break with the 'disastrous tradition' of promising until... entering government and then doing 'whatever I want', which causes political disaffection among citizens and justifies the comment 'all politicians are the same'.
  • To begin the tradition of real transparency in Xàbia, so that whoever governs ensures that electoral promises are kept.

    1. Alberto says:

      But can we still exist?
These people are here to teach lessons…

    2. You never could says:

We can talk about accomplishing things.

The return of part of their salaries, the protection of women, the refusal to leave Vallecas, the fight against corruption, the protection of employees... they haven't done it very well.

I didn't see them as so demanding when not a single project came out in Jávea because Chulvi failed miserably, his town burned down, he gassed us with the landfill, he built the swimming pool in the auditorium and he knocked down a bridge that we now know was awarded to the Ábalos plot.

    3. I know you all well. says:

      What a bunch of incompetents.

You never could, nor will you ever be able to.

      Never.
