November 05 from 2025 - 07: 56

The families of the students in the specific classroom of IES La Mar Residents of Xàbia have filed a formal complaint with several institutions, including the Síndic de Greuges, the Conselleria de Education and the Valencian Regional Government's Inspection Service, due to a lack of teachers and insufficient resources in the classroom designated for students with various disabilities. The situation has been a cause for concern since the beginning of the school year, but the administration has yet to take effective measures to resolve the problem.

The school's special education classroom, which serves children with diverse educational support needs, currently has 10 students. However, the number of assigned professionals does not meet the minimum ratio established by law, which is one special education teacher, one speech and language therapist, and one teaching assistant for every 8 students. Currently, the classroom only has one special education teacher and one teaching assistant, but lacks a speech and language therapist and additional teaching assistants, further exacerbating the situation.

Since the start of the school year, families have complained that the lack of specialized staff is hindering the proper educational development of students. The children, who require individualized attention and specialized resources, are unable to progress effectively due to the excessive workload. work that the available staff faces.

Despite receiving complaints from families through the Regional Ministry of Education and the Education Inspectorate, no reinforcements or tangible solutions have been implemented to date. According to representatives of the affected families, the authorities have stated that the necessary positions for new teachers have been allocated, but these teachers have not been assigned to the specific classroom at IES La Mar. The latest response from the Regional Ministry asserts that the situation "does not violate students' rights," a claim the families consider "false," given the evident staff shortage and the high number of students per classroom.

Families fear that without prompt action, students will continue to suffer from a lack of individualized attention, which could severely impact their educational progress and emotional well-being. They demand that the administration comply with the standards established by law and that children receive the resources they need for their full inclusion in the education system.
