Xàbia has unanimously approved a motion presented by the socialist municipal group at the plenary session held yesterday, Thursday, proposing to regulate the activity of the member what are you offering excursions kayaking in particularly sensitive areas of the local coastline, such as the Cala Granadella and Cala de Barraca (Portitxol).
The socialist proposal is based on the concerns expressed by the Xàbia Kayak Business Association. The business owners expressed their concern to the socialists about the lack of control and compliance with previously established agreements by the Town Hall, to protect the environment, promote fair competition and ensure user safety.
One step closer to sustainable tourism
The motion emphasizes the need to expand and detail the current citizen coexistence ordinance regarding the use of beaches and coastal areas. Among the aspects to be regulated are the granting of licenses, limitations on the number of kayaks per zone, authorized hours, training requirements for guides, and sanctions for those who violate the regulations. It also proposes strengthening surveillance at the most frequented spots during the peak season and launching awareness campaigns on responsible kayaking.
This initiative complements other sustainable measures implemented by previous governments. PSOE in Xàbia, such as the protection of Posidonia oceanica, the marking of beaches and anchorage areas, and the regulation of traffic in natural spaces such as the granadella and the first mountain.
The PSOE (Spanish Socialist Workers' Party) in Xàbia insists that this new regulation is a key step toward a more organized, sustainable, and environmentally friendly tourism model.

Yes, it's clear; the PSOE now insists on resolving what they failed to prevent. Now they're signing up for organized, sustainable, and respectful tourism. Years and years have created this situation... and you are also responsible for it. A little shame doesn't hurt.
I have been going to Javea for 30 years, and for the last 3, I have never seen so many boats anchored in the coves near Javea and crossing the buoys. In fact, last year I called the police to tell them how the Cala Sardinera was full of little boats and deafening music. Their response was that they were aware but that there were only a few of them.
What I'd like to keep away from the coast are jet skis. They're really annoying. Noise, pollution, waves. Isn't anyone going to push for a regulation of jet skis? They do whatever they want. Crazy.
He does what I say, not what I do. What a mess.
