The debate about the situation of CEIP Graüll has taken a new step in Xàbia with the initiative of Municipal Socialist Group, who has formally requested the holding of a full extraordinary to claim to Conselleria d'Educació an urgent response to the state of the center's facilities.

The request comes after the plenary session held last March 12. the City Council will approve a credit amendment of 350.000 euros to acquire six prefabricated classrooms intended for the students of Graüll, which currently occupies, as explained in the session, spaces classified by the very Councilor for Education , the "deplorable and subhuman".

From the PSOE Locals argue that, although they abstained from voting out of a sense of responsibility and to avoid blocking an action that affects the well-being of children, the measure still demonstrates, in their opinion, the abandonment by the regional administration.

Xàbia assumes an investment that the PSOE attributes to the Conselleria

The socialists consider it unacceptable that the Town Hall has to assume with municipal resources an action that corresponds to the Generalitat as it is the competent administration in matters of educational infrastructure.

Socialist spokesman, José ChulviShe argued that the students of Graüll cannot wait any longer and criticized the attempt to resolve the situation with money from the residents of Xàbia while, in her opinion, the Regional Ministry is failing to fulfill its obligations to the municipality. In this regard, she asserted that the urgency of the situation demands an immediate response, not a solution that, according to her group, will only mask the inaction of the regional government.

The proposal that the PSOE will bring to the extraordinary plenary session proposes demanding that Conselleria d'Educació to assume the replacement of prefabricated classrooms while the construction of a new primary school is being promoted.

The PSOE demands that the Regional Ministry assume the cost

Furthermore, the socialists argue that if the City Council ultimately has to intervene to prevent harm to the students, the following measures should be undertaken simultaneously: necessary legal actions to claim the return of every euro invested by the municipal coffers.

Request for an immediate meeting and for the afternoon

Although the procedure for convening an extraordinary plenary session requested by at least a quarter of the council allows for longer deadlines, the Socialist Group believes that, given the importance of the matter, the session should be held next week, with the utmost urgency and in the afternoon, in order to facilitate the assistance "In previous extraordinary plenary sessions, the request to hold it in the afternoon was not granted," the socialists point out.
