The Washinkai Karate Club of Xàbia and Benitatxell, protagonist in the Almussafes tournament with 19 medals

The Washinkai Karate Club of Xàbia and Benitatxell has celebrated a remarkable success in the XIII Mediterranean Coast Tournament, held last March 27th 2026 in Almussafes, Valencia.

The 15 students Those who participated in this event, organized by the Okami Foundation and which closes the season, achieved a total of 19 medalsconsolidating the highest positions in the overall medal count.

The competitors from the Washinkai Karate Club have returned home with an impressive total of 19 medals: 4 gold, 4 silver y 11 bronzeThe club has emphasized the spirit of unity among its members, who, even while competing against each other, secured podium finishes without rivalry, showcasing the essence of the club.

Individual and team results in kata and kumite

The individual medalists in the KATA category were:

  • Gold: Paula Serra Escrivá (mixed cadet), Lucas Palomar (mixed senior).
  • Silver: Gabriela Lopez Goberna (female cadet), Alicia Fernández Táboas (mixed senior).
  • Bronze: Martin Connelly (mixed senior), Leonardo Pearson Fibonacci (mixed cadet), Lucas Palomar (mixed senior + 17).

In the KATA DUO category, the results were:

  • Gold: Paula Serra Escrivá, Amaya Higginson.
  • Silver: Alanis Saavedra Chacon, Daisha Utrera Romero.
  • Bronze: Martin Connelly, Lucas Palomar, Aila García, Clara Fuentes Wasshausen, Mireya Domenech Ribes, Leonardo Pearson Fibonacci, Gabriela Lopez Goberna.

Finally, in KUMITE, Daisha Utrera Romero won a medal of bronze in the cadet category.

The Club also highlighted the "excellent work presented by Mathias Gonzalez Imbach, Isabella Goudriaan Rodriguez and Lucas Perez Garcia.

The Washinkai Karate Club has expressed its deep gratitude to the parents who, from Xàbia and Benitatxell, accompanied the competitors, celebrating each of their successes. Thanks have also been extended to the Department of Sports from Xàbia, for their "effort, support and collaboration".

Finally, the club wanted to acknowledge the "tremendous effort and dedication" of the coach, Geovanny Sanchez Salazar, who "always manages to motivate the competitors, consistently leading them to reach their full potential." The organization highlighted "the high level of all the competitors and the importance of the Championship's organization," which underscores the achievements of the Washinkai students.
